Buongiorno Tutti!
Well this week was transfer calls! I was pleased on Saturday to hear Anziano Ostlers voice telling me what was going to happen down here haha. He is a great guy and is doing a great job as an assistent. Well, he told me that I will be staying in Lecce getting a new companion. He is an Italian! His name is Anziano Kennedy! Haha, I know what you are all thinking right now... That isn't an italian name... Well, no it is not. It turns out his dad is American and his mom Italian. He does come from Livorno up north though. I have heard he is an all round good guy, so I am excited! He speaks English and Italian perfectly because both are his mother language. I am excited and it will be awesome! It has been great here with Anziano Petersen! He is heading down to Reggio Calabria, and will do great down there! Well, on Thursday I will be picking him up.
Well, this week we taught G* about tithing and he accepted it but very tentatively. I think he just needs some time is all and he will come around fully. We have decided to postpone the baptism for at least a week more and we will see how it goes. We are going to be seeing him today and also tomorrow, so we will be able to see how things are going and really get a firm commitment out of him. He is awesome! For the first time yesterday he came to Church in a white shirt and tie. He has come in the tie with a black shirt before, but this was the first time in a white shirt! It was cool! He even gave a prayer in the Priesthood meeting and everything. We are really excited for his progress overall and for the things he is doing to prepare for baptism. That will be awesome in the upcoming weeks! He will be a huge help to the branch.
E* is still accepting basically everything that we are saying, she is still just waiting for an answer. We aren't exactly sure what to do with her. She has accepted basically everything we have presented to her and is reading and praying, but she hasn't gotten her answer yet. We are being patient and we will continue to wait. We believe that G*'s baptism will help push her to make her decision. She is great!
This week we met an Albanian man on the street named M*. He has met missionaries before in Albania and he was interested. We invited him to Church and he came. That was pretty cool! He is a super nice guy. He doesn't speak Italian perfectly but he does speak it better than Gh* did. We are hoping to set a baptismal date with him tonight if everything goes well. He is a really nice guy and says he believes what he has heard about Joseph Smith and everything. That is all pretty cool!
The world cup here is a big deal. When Italy plays you just hear how the game is going by how people cheer and stuff. It is pretty cool! I love being able to talk to the Italians about it! The pictures today are of the a Catholic church here, probably the most famous in all of this region... and also me next to a ducati... Again... I like that motorcycle mom... haha.
Other than that, this week we have done a ton of street and park finding. It is a looooooot. It has gone well though. A little tiring and all, but overall it was good. We got rained on pretty hard early in the week and that helped cool things down which was nice. Well, this week has been good and the next one will be awesome! I am excited! Italy treats me well!
Sincerely,
Anziano Burton
