Kennedy and Empty Lecce

Buongiorno Tutti!

Well, it has been another week... This week I picked up Anziano Kennedy from the train station and we got straight to work. It has been a good first few days with him and we are getting along well. So, his dad is from Utah and his mom is Italian. He was born in Provo and then when he was 6 they moved to Livorno Italy. Pretty cool! It is crazy because he has a perfect Italian and English accent. It is funny to hear him change between the two but he is awesome! He has been teaching me a lot and it is good!

Well, this week before Anziano Petersen left we met with G* and talked with him about the website Providentliving.org We want to help him learn how to adjust his finances so that he can pay tithing. He went on with his wife and from what I heard it went well. We will be visiting again this week to hopefully get the firm commitment out of him and then get another baptismal date. He is doing well and both him and E* came to church again and they are progressing along. Also, Sorella Bonavoglia, his wife, recieved a calling and gave a talk this week! That is huge thinking that just a few months ago she was considered a less active. She has made a ton of progress and when her husband gets baptized they will be a huge strength to this branch. We are excited!

This week we met with M* again and taught him the Restoration and that went well but I don't know how into our message he really is. He seems very hesitant in some respects. We went to pick him up again for Church and he didn't show up. Soooo, that was a bumber. We gave his friend a book of mormon though and he seemed a lot more interested. The Albanian people in Italy are somehow a lot more interested in the Gospel than most Italians.

This week as soon as Anziano Kennedy showed up all of Lecce decided to go to the beach... Our finding has been crazy hard this week. We walk the streets here and there is nobody. Literally we walked on empty streets for 2 hours right after lunch yesterday. It was rough. The mornings are also pretty empty overall and everything seems to have slowed down a lot. It is strange and I am worried for the rest of the summer here. The heat is still going up, and the people don't want to be here while it does.

This next week hopefully we will be able to meet with the few people we contacted on the street. It will be great if we can, but right now there are no promises.

Well, I am happy in Lecce still, it is a beautiful city. After being in Italy for one and a half years I just walk past large old buildings and monuments and don't think much of it. It is quite strange haha. I am still trying to take it all in still though. I am grateful to serve and learn in Italy. Oh, also, I got made first counsilor in the branch presidency. That doesn't really change anything from second counsilor. It is cool though. Well, until next week!

Sincerely,

Anziano Burton
