Bearded men and Member appointments

Buongiorno Tutti!!!

Sei Mesi!!!

That is crazy, six months until I go home... Wow... Time flies when your having fun! I still need to learn a bit more Italian.

Well, this week has been good. The work is moving along and we are happy. Unfortunately, G* won't be able to make it on the 26th. The family is going out of town this week and we won't even be able to get the interview done let along the baptism unfortunately. Also he wasn't able to make it to Church because he had to take a shift at the hospital, but we will get him next week. It is kind of a bummer because we were hoping so much to get the baptism done this week, but I guess the turn of events didn't want us to do that. We are hoping that next week things work out finally and that we can finally get him wet. He is a good guy. We won't be able to see him this week but we will be staying in contact by calling him and stuff. It will go well. Well, basically that is the story with him.

This week we saw M* and he told us he had been reading the Book of Mormon and that he really enjoyed it. We set a time to pick him up in the park to take him to Church. We went on Sunday to pick him up and he wasn't there... Well, what can you do? Also, the same day that we saw M* we also saw Gh*. He is doing well, but he went to the hospital because of an ulcer in his stomach. Strangely enough he was told he can't drink coffee anymore by a doctor and he magically isn't drinking it now. It is rough because he is still bitter about the time we taught the Word of Wisdom. He still doesn't want to change inside, even though he already has physically. That is pretty rough.

Well, this week I had one of those really sweet experiences that you always hear about by return missionaries. Well, one evening we were walking along and I tried to stop a tall man with long hair and a beard. He swore at me and kept walking. Well, I was pretty shocked by the use of swear words and Anziano Kennedy started laughing. We kept walking down the street and tried stopping another person. He walked past us. Then we looked back down the street and saw the tall man coming towards us and calling to us.

My first thought... "Oh, maybe he is coming to apologize." Well, that wasn't the story. He comes and gets all up in my face and starts going off in English about Syria and how America is stupid and how we are all brain washed and how the Jews and Zionism are terrible and stuff like that. In between all this he demonstrated a vast vocabulary of English swear words. Well, he would grab the Book of Mormon from my hands and tell us that it was something bad and stuff. Then I had enough, I grabbed the book back and stared him in the eyes and said "I know that this book is true. I know it." Immediately I felt the spirit more strongly than I have in a long time. I was just filled with it and it was so powerful. Of course he continued on saying we were brainwashed and that we needed to go to Syria and preach there instead preaching Christianity in a Christian country. Well, he wouldn't listen and then the conversation just ended. We continued on towards home just basking in the spirit from the simple statement I left. It was a very cool experience. I am happy that I was given it. All the same, for the next few days, my heart started beating faster every time I saw a man walking around with long hair and a beard.

Well, zone conference went well and overall things have been good in Lecce. We have been setting up some member appointments, something that Anziano Kennedy is much better at than me because he can charm the Italian members. Well, I am happy and life goes on!

That is basically all that I can think of from this week! Until next week!

Sincerely,

Anziano Burton
